DYNAMO® -
The Kinetic Flashlight!
The Physics of DYNAMO®
|
|
In 1831, Michael Faraday discovered how to transform mechanical energy
into continuous electrical energy by moving conductors through
magnetic fields, thus laying the foundation for today's technological
society. |

Fascination's DYNAMO® Flashlight is based on this discovery.

The first dynamo was comprised of a rotatable copper disc placed
between the poles of a horseshoe magnet. One wire of the current
indicator (galvanometer) was connected to the axle of the disc, and
the other was connected to a sliding contact on the edge. When the
disc was rotated, the needle of the galvanometer moved in one
direction and remained in that position as long as the disc whirled.
